Miia Magia’s past two decades of exploring the dancefloor with her groovy and hypnotic sets has been a labour of love. The once passionate clubber, record collector and lover of the UK alternative rock sound today lights up her sets with dubbed out raw techno and classic deep house. Hailing from the LGBTQ+ scene where she is a staple figure and organizing various club concepts in Helsinki paved her way into entering the highschool of techno in Stockholm. A beautiful journey through festival stages, warehouse raves and club nights all over Finland, Sweden and Estonia with HALL, In To The Valley, Department and Kesärauha becoming some of her firm favourites. Miia is the owner of Motto Sono Records, actively running the label since 2020 with releases mainly focusing on Scandinavian deep house & dub techno. A rare gem of a label, keeping the underground culture alive and providing possibilities for artists to release uncompromised music for the demanding audience as well as DJs from up and coming producers to heavyweight pioneers.

Miia started out by playing at various Helsinki clubs and parties, which naturally led her to set up her own regular club night in Semifinal, a legendary local underground venue. “Club FF” became in 2004 the first club night in Semifinal's history run solely by female DJs, making Miia the pioneer that she is to this day. Miia continued trailblazing by gaining a residency in club DTM, the undisputed cornerstone or in their own words "institution of all things queer in the Helsinki nighttime", and eventually leading the massive Helsinki Pride parade for several years. At mbar, one of Helsinki’s most beloved cultural hangouts, Miia’s “Sound of Magic” concept became an instant classic. While DJing in the Finnish capital she has shared the stage with her local heroes Roberto Rodriguez and Orion to name but a few. Currently Miia hosts a resident bi-monthly club night “KICK” at DTM.

From 2015 to 2019 Miia was based in Sweden, making her way through the highly prestigious Stockholm underground techno scene. There Miia’s work was recognized with invitations coming in to warm up legends like Axel Boman, Cari Lekebusch and Dj Hell. Since 2022 Miia has been signed to Stockholm based booking agency Parabel Music.

After returning to Helsinki in 2020 Miia created the independent label Motto Sono Records together with Mr.Barth (aka Cari Lekebusch), following the principle of releasing distinctive and unique electronic music with the common definition “deep”. Releases by the likes of Alexi Delano, Joel Mull, Tm Shuffle and Tapani Rinne and collaborations with Scandinavian visual artists for the label’s cover art have made scrolling through Motto Sono’s catalogue feel like visiting an art gallery. Both Miia Magia's own and other Motto Sono masterpieces have earned plays and climbed up to best track lists on Finnish and Swedish national radios.

In addition to her main focus as a dj and label owner, during the past decade Miia has also been able to channel her creative talent and pursuit of beauty into make-up artistry and jewellery design. Often collaborating with performing artists, she has created looks for musicians like Jori Hulkkonen for his music video and the late great Prince's band members Cassandra O'Neil and John Blackwell prior to their concert in Helsinki. Miia Magia Design jewellery collaborations include several Finnish museums, Swedish record labels Drumcode and H-Productions and Helsinki Pride. Her jewellery has also made appearances on various red carpet events, out of which adorning Aki Kaurismäki's "Fallen Leaves" film crew members at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023 is one of Miia’s personal highlights.
